Plymouth: A City Brimming With History and Charm

Discover Plymouth - Britain's Ocean City - for an authentic Devonian experience and indulge in the maritime heritage, captivating coastline and endless activities. With No.1 Elliott Terrace being on Plymouth Hoe overlooking Plymouth Sound, proclaimed to be “one of the world’s finest natural harbours,” this central spot has an unparalleled location to enjoy the splendid ocean views with constantly changing activity both on Plymouth Sound and the Hoe, whilst being a stone’s throw away from the vibrant city.  The apartments are within a fine Grade 2* listed palatial Italianate building with dual aspect windows giving fabulous views to the east and south. Whilst being in the heart of the culture, immerse yourself in the historical attractions, natural stunning scenery and an increasing choice of good restaurants.

Plymouth boasts a multitude of attractions which can please everyone in the family, from constantly changing events on the Hoe, dramatic coastal walks, cultural attractions and shopping in the city or the numerous surrounding towns and villages. Whatever the weather, you will without a doubt be overwhelmed with options to entertain you and your group.

Plymouth is surrounded by the rugged beauty of Dartmoor to the north, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the South Hams to the East and the unspoilt beauty of Cornwall to the west. So make sure you book your stay allowing enough time to explore it all!

Elliot Terrace is bursting with history with previous residents including the Astors – then one of the richest families in the country – with Nancy Astor being the country's first woman sitting MP residing at No 3 and Arthur Conan Doyle at No 6. Previous visitors include the King and Queen, Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw and Charlie Chaplin.

With the apartments undergoing a programme of dramatic refurbishments, you will be fortunate to be one of the first to experience modern, stylish and unique apartments. On your doorstep is the sea; you can feel the breeze and hear the gulls as soon as you step outside you will feel like you’re on an exotic holiday! Where else can you be stood where Sir Francis Drake played bowls whilst the Spanish Armada sailed up the English Channel!

The refurbishment programme is nearly complete with all apartments now refurbished and the hallway due to be completed early December. The lift installation has commenced and will be completed mid February 2018 with a month's Xmas break and mainly involves work in the courtyard at the side of the house. The lift will go from the ground to the third floor.

***** "Location, Location, Location"! Stayed here for 4 nights whilst attending a Graduation Ceremony. The apartment is fabulous, well equipped and we had a wonderful time! We did encounter a few hiccups but they were quickly and easily sorted by Hayley. Parking was easy and convenient with the parking permit provided. Our first obstacle was putting in the code for the outside door, 4 numbers (easy!) followed by the hash key. You have to press the hash key!! The hallway and stairs (lots of them!) have yet to be decorated and a lift will be installed, so we were told. The apartment and its views are stunning, looking out over Plymouth Sound. We spent our first afternoon sitting on the balcony in the sunshine! The apartment is bright, clean, modern, very well equipped and the few problems that we did have were reported to Hayley on our departure who had a maintenance man on site for the day.

***** "Great Apartment on the Hoe" Stayed at the Lady Astor apartment for 2 weeks during the summer and we still miss this place! Kitchen was very modern and fully stocked with utensils, stove, fridge, and espresso machine. Living/dining room very spacious and the views of the Hoe were unparalleled! Very nice bed and bathroom as well. Room even had an Alexa for playing music and a nice big TV. Highly recommend this location and apartment! There is limited parking but you can get 1 of the 6 (Ed 8) spots if you display the printable ticket. Would definitely stay here again!

***** "location, comfortable and luxurious apartment".  This apartment is in an excellent location, overlooking the historic Plymouth Hoe. It is a short walk into the shopping centre or to the Barbican and has excellent views out to sea. The main seating area is very light and roomy and the sofas and chairs are extremely comfortable. The apartment was well equipped with a smart TV and Blu-ray player in the lounge and execllent cooking facilities. The bedrooms were all very pleasant and the beds very comfortable and warm. There were 4 of us staying here so having 3 bath/shower rooms was a bonus. All of the rooms, apart from the lounge, are on the lower level and so do not receive quite as much natural daylight but are no less pleasant for that. While it was a gloriously sunny weekend, we did still need the heating first thing in the morning and in the evenings and this did keep the place nice and warm. However, the bathroom attached to the twin bedroom was always cold as it only has a heated towel rail. In the Summer that would be fine but as we visited in March it was noticeable. We did have a problem with the apartment door at one point but after calling the House Manager someone arrived within 20 minutes to fix it and we had no issues after that. In conclusion I can say that this is a great apartment, very well appointed and I would certainly stay there again.
